Decorating

I’ve been house hunting on Zillow for years. We’re in the market for an inexpensive starter home, so I spend most of my time looking at atrociously decorated spaces. Messy, cluttered, wood-paneled, “retro” rust colored carpets… They’re all pretty awful. So yesterday when I found a home that was beautifully and tastefully styled, as well as clean, I was shocked. My instinct was to pin some of the photos to my “Indoor Living Space” board on Pinterest, but you can’t really do that from Zillow because the listing won’t always be there. So I copied the pictures to my computer, and I am putting them here. I love the colors they’ve used, and the cleanliness they’ve managed to bring into a tiny little house.

Balance

The NaBloPoMo prompt of the day is this:

Making family time is important to me. How do you balance your children, relationship, and work life?

This is actually an issue I suspect I’ll be dealing with soon. Being a new mom, I’m probably still in the honeymoon phase. When I think of the possibility of putting my baby in day care, I shudder. I love that I get to spend all of my time with her, that I am her biggest influence, that I see every tiny step she makes towards being a walking talking person. I’m thrilled that I have the ability to do my small job from home, supporting the small business that makes a living for my family. If my husband weren’t such a hard worker, I wouldn’t have the wonderful opportunity to be a full-time mom.

That being said, I can count on one hand the number of hours I’ve been able to go out without a baby for something that isn’t household related. I’m a homebody, so this maybe isn’t as bad as it would be for the average person. Still, though, I do miss being able to spend time doing things other than momming.… Read the rest
